Essay Topics - Teenage Pregnancy

Essay Topics - Teenage PregnancyTeenage pregnancy essay topics are given a lot of attention these days, especially when people are so surprised and hurt by the sight of an ultrasound. The huge amount of criticism given to teenagers having children has also caused many to stop and think about why teenagers get pregnant in the first place. Most teenagers already have plenty of schooling ahead of them, their future is not yet set. It is no secret that some teens will get pregnant sooner or later, but the question becomes why do these teens and why should the rest of us care?Whether you believe that our society has simply gotten too liberal and out of control or if you think it is the natural progression of the teenage body and adolescence, teenagers always have that image of teenagers' way of life that society wants to keep. For example, the belief that teenage mothers are often sluts who abuse their children and neglect them has been around for as long as anyone can remember. It is no secret why society likes to poke fun at teenage mothers or anybody for that matter. When young women think of pregnancy, they think of the phrase 'fate'. This saying really only pertains to the idea that pregnancy will happen to any woman, unless they are chosen to avoid it. When society sees a woman get pregnant, most people will automatically assume that she has not planned it all along. It does not matter if she has a job or a loving family to support; when society sees pregnant women, they will automatically think that they are irresponsible and that they lack self-control.Many teenagers will go into abortion because they fear that they will not be able to support their child. In many cases, this is true but there are many other reasons for a teenager to have an abortion. One reason for teenage pregnancy is that the mother has just experienced rape or a sexual assault. Rape and child molestation are both very serious crimes that parents need to protect their daughters from. If a m other's name has already been on a sex offender registry, this will have little to no bearing on whether or not her daughter gets an abortion. However, in most cases, the belief that child molestation and rape will affect a young woman's reproductive capacity far outweighs the stigma associated with a child molestation arrest.Another reason for teenage pregnancy is the poor health of a mother. Teenage pregnancy is very common among teenagers, who are very often diagnosed with such conditions as puberty delaying diseases and other illnesses, which could also be life threatening. These girls do not have an option and must seek out the options available. And finally, many times, teenage pregnancy is a result of the teenage girl being born into a poor family. Often these girls were not taught what to do with their bodies and they feel that they can not properly care for them. They think that a baby is a sign of things to come, and they just don't want it. Having a baby is not something t hat a girl can control, but she can control herself and not get pregnant in the first place.Teenage pregnancy is a serious issue that society is starting to tackle. Teenage pregnancy essay topics are becoming more common in schools and they may be increasing due to the fact that the stigma that once was so strongly placed on the teenagers themselves seems to be fading. Perhaps the readers of this article will find the courage to speak up, and hopefully we can do whatever we can to help them make better decisions.
